4th November 2008 - Dunsfold Park Ltd has today announced its intention to
appeal against Waverley Borough Council’s decision to refuse their masterplan
application for the aerodrome in Dunsfold, nr Guildford, Surrey.
Jim McAllister, Chief Executive, Dunsfold Park Ltd commented:
“We were disappointed, but not surprised, by Waverley’s
decision to refuse the masterplan application for Dunsfold Park. We have
decided to appeal the Council’s decision, which we believe is wrong and not in
the community’s interest, and our efforts will now be focused on the appeal
process.”
“What an
extraordinary decision that The Royal Bank of Scotland, so recently the
recipient of Government money to bail it out, and the Rutland Group should
decide to waste yet further tax payers money on hearing an appeal when there
has been so much opposition to the plans from seriously influential quarters.
I’m talking here about democratically elected bodies such as Surrey County
Council, four borough councils and thirteen parish councils as well as the
South East England Regional Assembly and the South East England Development
Agency. With objectors such as these it is difficult to see how the developer
can say that Waverley’s decision was not in the community’s interest. These
bodies represent the community. This decision is ill-considered and
irresponsible.” He went on to add “This issue no longer affects just those living in the area, it affects every man and woman in the UK who is a tax payer. Do you really want to see yet more of your money being spent in such a frivolous way?” |
